CLUEToolLoader User Guide




Software product developed in Russia - "CLUEToolLoader" universal loader. Designed to automate work with the database as part of the PetroVision Databank.

The application has been actively developed for over 10 years. The first version of the product was presented at the end of 2011.






The main task of the application is to load and index material for further use in the PetroVision Databank system. The CLUETool user does not need to be an IT specialist in database administration and data management. Using the built-in editor, the geoscience specialist can create loading kits that include different types of fields, quality control criteria for incoming material, and much more.

The application supports the following operations, which allow full interaction with the database:


  1. Loading / unloading / updating / deleting input material;

  2. Data indexing;

  3. Batch loading - sequential automatic processing of similar materials without user intervention;

  4. Material preprocessing - preparation of materials, filling in calculation fields, applying quality control criteria for subsequent loading of material.

 The application supports the following data formats:

This functionality allows you to interact with the database, as well as take into account all the restrictions imposed by the client on the quality of the material.




All products of the company have the ability to work with data of uniform standards and are fully compatible with each other. Development is carried out taking into account the requests and wishes of users. The solutions applied correspond to expediency and logic, are adopted and revised on the basis of expanding and refining information.

The loader supports the architecture of the following relational data models widely used in the oil and gas industry:

  2. PPDM 3.9


The listed data models are unified, therefore, the company's specialists expand, adapt and modify them for specific cases of clients for more rational use by end users.



The application architecture includes a number of modules required for data modeling, QC definition and data loading, as well as a large number of built-in templates / forms and QC constraints for E&P data.


This application:

  • Supports Oracle (11g R2 +) and Postgresql (9.0+)
  • Allows you to manage exploration and production data, ensuring their relevance, completeness and usefulness
  • Does not require additional software for data preparation, but can be integrated with any of them.

An undoubted advantage is the variability of settings, schemes and loading templates for each enterprise separately. Any setting is feasible both with the help of the company's specialists, and independently, after training.




The software product is tested at every stage of its life - from the initial realization of the idea to its implementation - but the support does not end there. Another advantage is the possibility to stay in communication with technical support, ready to clarify the situation and promptly resolve the issues that might arise, as well as timely transfer information to the developers for making changes.


Development prospects

Software development forges ahead, and the following functionality is planned for release in the near future:

  1. Extending existing data models

  2. New handlers for fields

    For the convenience of working with the input data, their greater structure and ease of processing the material. For example, a component for working with acquisition geometry, containing the name of the coordinate system and a list of coordinates.

  3. Multithreaded data loading

    Independent parallel work with data of different directions. Helps to reduce the total time spent on processing materials.

  4. Web interface for loading data

    Complete analog of a desktop application based on the existing kernel, including batch loading, preprocessing, quality control criteria, as well as support for multiprofile datasets.


At the same time, work is underway to improve the existing functionality.
